There is more fun in the Philippines especially this coming Independence Day Philippines 2012 celebration. Filipinos or Pinoys are known for their generous smiles and laughter. They are peace loving and happy people. Of course, this would not have been possible had they not successfully won battles or revolutions that tried to steal their freedom. That is why the Independence Day celebration on June 12, 2012 is a much awaited event.
In the Philippines, June 12 is already declared a national holiday. This means more people will be expected to attend the different public events held in various historical locations. Flag raising, presidential speech and even the 21 gun salute is expected to held either in Kawit, Cavite where Aguinaldo’s Shrine is found or in Luneta Park where Jose Rizal’s monument is built. Festivities in different towns are expected with lots of food, dancing and singing as well.
In America, Filipinos are expected to attend the Philippine Independence Day Parade in New York City. The parade will cover 23rd to the 40th Streets. Filipino-Americans are expected to parade in their native costume raising cultural awareness to the new generation. Street fair and cultural shows also follow and will never be complete without a beauty pageant and some sing and dance contests.
In Canada, Filipinos hold the Mabuhay Festival which is a whole day affair. This Independence day celebration is both a festival and a trade show. This year they will be inviting Filipino performers and actors to grace their event. They will also have a pageant for Filipino kids and there will be a fashion show for adults. The focus is more in highlighting Filipino talents. This is their way of expressing their freedom in a foreign land.
